Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of ChengID, the sign-on service operated by ChengOS ("we", "us"). By creating a ChengID account or using it to sign in, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. What ChengID is

ChengID is an identity service: it holds one account and uses it to sign you in to Cheng products and to other applications you authorize. It is not itself a storage, messaging, or workflow product. The applications you reach through ChengID have their own terms, and those govern what happens inside them.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and old enough to enter a binding agreement where you live.

3. Your account

  • Register with a valid email address you control, and a password of at least 12 characters — or through a supported third-party sign-in provider.
  • Provide accurate information and keep your email address current; it is how we reach you about security and account matters.
  • One account per person. Do not register accounts in bulk, by automation, or under someone else's identity.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your password and your devices secure, and tell us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been compromised.

Your account page gives you the tools for this: change your password, review active sessions and sign out of all others, and review or revoke the applications you have authorized.

4. Authorizing applications

When you approve an application's sign-in request, you authorize us to release the permissions shown on the consent screen — your identifier, username, and display name, plus your email address only when you grant that permission. You may revoke any authorization at any time from your account page. Revoking it stops future releases; it does not reach data the application already holds.

5. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • create accounts in bulk or by automated means, or impersonate another person or organization;
  • attempt to access another person's account, or any part of the service you have not been granted access to;
  • interfere with the authorization flow — forging requests, replaying or tampering with tokens, or probing relying parties through ChengID;
  • attack, overload, or attempt to disrupt the service, including through automated request volume;
  • use ChengID to sign in to applications for unlawful purposes.

Security research conducted in good faith is welcome; contact us before testing anything that could affect other users.

6. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of ChengID. We will give reasonable notice of material changes to these terms or of a discontinuation that would affect your ability to sign in, where circumstances allow.

7. Suspension and termination

We may disable an account that violates these terms, that is being used to harm other users or the service, or where we are legally required to. A disabled account cannot sign in and cannot authorize applications. You may stop using ChengID at any time, and may request deletion of your account by emailing [email protected] from your account's address.

8. Disclaimer

ChengID is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, or error-free.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChengOS will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of your use of or inability to use ChengID. Our total liability to you for all claims relating to the service will not exceed one hundred United States dollars (US$100) or the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or gross negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusions above; where that is so, they apply only as far as that jurisdiction permits.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California for any dispute arising from these terms, except where the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
